BONNIE'S UNIQUE GIFTS ARE MADE OF
For your convenience, we have put together information on how each product is made and ideas on how to keep them looking like new.

ALABASTRITE
This is the name for polyresin items. Cold-cast. To clean, dust them - do not wash with water. Alabastrite will allow paint to adhere and is a stone-based material that can be intricately molded.

BONE CHINA
Bone China is a white clay with bone ash added. According to United States guildelines, bone ash conent must be at least 25%. It is fired at 1800 degrees, than the translucent material is finished with a glaze or underglaze (matte). It is stronger, lighter, and more expensive than porcelain

CUBIC ZIRCONIA
This is a very successful and popular successful simulated diamond. Remarkably similar to real diamonds are its properties -specific gravey, hardness, and refraction. Cubic zirconia products are very hard to distinguish from diamonds. In fact, often times a jewelers loop will be needed to detect the difference

DIAMOND
This material is extremely hard, refractive colorless or white or white crystalline of carbon. Just like all other gemstones, diamonds are judged in terms of carats or weight, which is completely different from karats, as in gold purity.

GEMSTONES
Usually known as birthstones are these gemstones - rubies, sapphires, emeralds, amethysts. Gemstones are graded and priced by Carat weight.

GOLD
This is know as the ultimate precious metal. It is amazingly malleable, does not tarnish or rust, and is virtually indestructible. Gold is graded by its purity. The United States uses a scale of 24 to grade gold, therefore 24 carats or 24K would be 100% pure; 18K would be eighteen parts gold and six parts alloy (alloy is other metals). The legal minimum for karat grading is 10K.

JADE PORCELAIN
Jade porcelain is porcelain which is made of a finer clay. Most of the time only a colorless glaze or is applied when the final firing begins which is to show off the very smooth surface, and to protect the translucency. This type of porcelain is usually used to make night lights due to its high degree of translucency when lit.

PATCHWORK PORCELAIN
This is a European designer fabric which is then stretched over porcelain figurines. Afterwards, it is coated with lacquer (12 layers). Every application of lacquer is then hand-polished which produces an ultrasmooth texture and a rich shine.Due to the 12 layers of lacquer which covers the products, the texture of the fabrics cannot be felt in the final product. They can only be seen.

PEARL
This is a lustrous, smooth, and variously colored round gemstone. It is originally formed as a deposite around a grain of sand in shells of shellfish. Pearls can be cultured (through an artificial process), or formed naturally.

SOU MOUNTAIN STONE
Products are made from this stone which is known for its deep red color. It is found in the Sou Mountain region of China. The stone is pulverized, then mixed with a binding agent, and then molded. It is similar to alabastrite. These products are very highly polished which brings out the intense, very deep red of the stone.

PORCELAIN
Porcelain is a fine ground white clay, which is fired and molded in an oven for eight hours at 1200 degrees. It is then finished with an underglazed, glazed, or bisque finish. Underglaze provides a matte finish, while glazing produces a high gloss. A matte finish without glaze is called bisque. When glazing is completed, the product is then cooked at 800 degrees for approximately six hours.

STERLING SILVER
A product must compose at least 92.5% pure silver in order for it to qualify as sterling silver.

STONEWARE
Stoneware is a white clay with fine ground stone. Great expertise is needed to work with stoneware. It is becoming a lost art. This material can be used in both microwaves and conventional ovens.

WATCHES
MECHANICAL - This type of watch requires winding by hand. It is spring driven.
AUTOMATIC - This type of watch is self-winding. Its weighted roto works on gravity and your natural wrist movements is what keeps the watch wound.
QUARTZ ANALOG - This type of watch uses a battery activated quartz crystal which vibrates 32,768 times per second which permits he energy to move the hands. It is sually accurate to within one minute a year.
QUARTZ DIGITAL - This type of watch does not have moving hands, but rather a digital display. They usually feature functions such as an alarm, stopwatch, and day/date. Some may even have additional features.

WATCH BATTERIES:
To change watch batteries
Find the groove on the back of the watch case and gently pry off the back. Remove the old battery by loosening the screw that holds the metal contact, slide the battery out, and insert the new battery (being sure to have the same side up as the old battery). Then retighten the screw, and snap the case back on.
